Child Safe Standards

Child Safe Standards commenced in Victoria in January 2016. Changes have been made to make the Standards stronger to improve the safety for children and young people.

The Child Safe Standards course is designed to equip individuals and organisations with the knowledge and skills needed to create a safe environment for children. The course covers the seven child safe standards, which are designed to help organisations prevent and respond to child abuse and neglect.

Participants will learn about the importance of child protection and the legal and ethical responsibilities of organisations towards children. They will also learn how to identify signs of child abuse and neglect and how to respond appropriately when they suspect a child is at risk.

The course will cover each of the seven child safe standards in detail, including strategies for implementation and compliance. Participants will learn how to develop policies and procedures that promote child safety, how to train staff and volunteers to identify and respond to child abuse and neglect, and how to create a culture of child safety within their organization.

The course will also cover best practices for working with children, including how to communicate effectively with children, how to establish and maintain appropriate boundaries, and how to respond to disclosures of abuse or neglect.

Upon completion of the Child Safe Standards course, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the seven child safe standards and the strategies needed to create a safe environment for children. They will be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to implement child safe policies and procedures within their organisation and to respond appropriately when they suspect a child is at risk.
